We’re Proud to Sign the ‘Charter for Employers Positive About Mental Health’
At New Start, we believe that a healthy, supportive, and inclusive workplace is essential for everyone. Across the UK, many people experiencing mental ill health still face stigma and discrimination at work. As a responsible employer, we are committed to changing this.
We are pleased to announce that we have officially signed the Charter for Employers Positive about Mental Health. By doing so, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering an open and supportive culture. One where colleagues feel confident discussing mental health, and where the wellbeing of every member of staff is valued and protected.
Our Commitment
By signing the Charter, we have made an ongoing commitment to:
- Provide non-judgemental and proactive support to staff experiencing mental ill health.
- Avoid assumptions about a person’s mental health condition or their ability to work.
- Champion a positive and enabling environment for all employees and job applicants with mental health conditions.
- Support our line managers with the tools and confidence to manage mental health in the workplace.
- Ensure fairness in recruitment, in line with the Equality Act (2010).
- Make it clear that no one will face discrimination for experiencing mental ill health, and that disclosure helps us work together to provide the right support or adjustments.
A Culture of Openness and Support
Signing this Charter is an important step, but it’s far from the end of our journey. We will continue building a workplace where mental health is openly discussed, where support is accessible, and where every individual feels respected and valued.
